The Z-4NV near vertical incidence skywave whip is designed to improve short range communications when attached to a vehicle mounted or fixed position ATU. Utilised by both military 2-4MHz and 5-7MHz and amatuer radio 2.3-5.06MHz and 3.9-6.2MHz, NVIS is useful where line of sight is ineffective or in highly mountainous regions. NVIS utilised the ionosphere to ‘bounce’ or refract the broadcasted signal over a larger distance to standard line-of-sight propogation.
